Coasal Patrol Radioing For Help
Illawarra Mercury
Tuesday December 2, 1997
When marine radios became a reality for recreational fishermen during the 1970's we used to call up Eddie Martin at his Corrimal radio base for assistance when ever we found ourselves in trouble at sea.
During the 1980's and early 1990's it was Jack Attwood - our "Guardian Angel" - we used to call up at his Coledale radio base.
But when Attwood passed away a few years back the Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol based at Belmore Basin was left without a voice during the week.
Now Coastal Patrol is trying to recruit a resident of the Northern Suburbs to establish a marine radio base in their home.
Coastal Patrol will train you to operate a radio, supply, install and maintain the radio in your own home in return for a few hours "standby duty" during the week.
If interested please contact Malcom Loy on 02 42712641.
